Several weeks ago Kosovo formally declared its independence from Serbia. Kosovo, an international protectorate of the United Nations since 1999, means little to most Americans beyond a vague connection to Slobodan Milosevic and a buzzword for the negatives of Balkanization.

When it comes to the Internet, old people have the know-how of squid. I'm not sure if it's because they're stuck in their ways or because there aren't a lot of web sites dedicated to false teeth, but something about going online leaves them quaking in their Depends.

Myspace is a difficult topic for me.

For several reasons, I have avoided writing about the social-networking site.

Mostly because I have received criticism, ironically in the form of blogs, that I spend too much time writing about Facebook.

Point taken, but considering the existence of a Mick Swasko Fan Club, it seems someone is spending too much time on Facebook writing about Mick Swasko.
