ISU's "First Weekend" is back for its fourth year on campus. Hosted by the University Program Board (UPB) it will give students many events to participate in this weekend.
With activities such as tie-dying, live band karaoke, free bowling and billiards and dodge ball, students will have little trouble finding something to do this weekend.
"The turnout has been better every year. Students are really starting to like ["First Weekend"], and embrace it," Jill Camper, a senior mass communication major and president of the UPB, said.
In addition to those activities the UPB will be hosting a foam party and Texas hold'em poker tournament tonight.
The winner of the poker tournament will receive a free semesters worth of books.
"'First Weekend' is a great way to meet new people and see everything ISU has to offer," Rachel Falk, a sophomore special education major, said.
Many of the activities may look familiar to returning ISU students because the UPB has decided to bring back popular activities from previous years.
"The activities change from year to year, but the UPB tries to bring back popular activities from previous years," Camper said.
The activities are free and are for everyone attending school at ISU.
"The only things you need to bring to 'First Weekend' are friends and a great attitude," Camper said.
All the activities are posted on the university calendar with their location and times. Dodge ball, despite conflicting locations, will be held in McCormick Hall on Saturday.
All of the activities with the exception of dodge ball will be held Friday night.
"We encourage everyone to come out, from freshmen to fifth year senior," Camper said.
